2022 Bridal Trend Forecast

2022 bridal trend forecast

The Afterwhite is a highly curated, one-stop style precursor for chic bride-to-be looks, from engagement party to rehearsal dinner. And as such, we always have our finger on the pulse of trends that are unfolding both on and off the runway. Here are five up-and-coming trends that the modern bride-to-be will fall head over heels for in 2022.

2022 Bridal Trends for the Modern Bride-to-Be

Bridal Trend 01: Asymmetry

The modern bride-to-be is equal parts playful and edgy, with the confidence to pull off head-turning asymmetry. We’re talking off-the-shoulder silhouettes, high-low hemlines, one-shoulder long sleeves, and deep side slits. Because skirting the rules of symmetry and perfection is way more fun.

Our picks: Stella Bridal Gown, Husk Mini Dress

Pairs well with: a sleek bun secured by a french pin to keep the focus on the ‘fit.

Bridal Trend 02: Entrepreneur Chic

While “girl boss” rhetoric is probably best left in the 2010s, the afterwhite bride translates her high-powered ambition into fresh crossovers of bridal and workwear. (Love that for her.) We’re going to be seeing more of an emphasis on structured, polished pieces that are made modern by a plunging neckline or rising hem.

Our picks: Gigi Bridal Blazer Dress, Amalfi Dress, Danielle Wedding Jumpsuit

Pairs well with: Modern pearl studs from Amélie George

Bridal Trend 03: Side Slits + Cutouts

Today’s modern bride is unabashedly herself, and if that means showing a little skin, she’s all in. In 2022, we’ll be seeing brides-to-be playfully experiment with side slits or side cutouts in their party looks. And as with most of these trends, the key for us is maintaining visual balance: we love side cutouts with a longer midi hemline, or a combo of both side cutouts and a deep side slit but with long sleeves.

Our picks: Blanche Tie Back Dress, Gazelle Knot Dress

Pairs well with: Classic white pumps, like these beauties from Sam Edelman

Bridal Trend 04: Chic Alternatives to White

Much like wearing white after Labor Day, wearing anything but white to your bridal festivities used to be totally taboo. But today’s bride-to-be is comfortable going against the grain of arbitrary rules when she sees fit. In 2022, you’ll catch her in ivory, blush pink, silver, and pale blue.

Our picks: Fara Dress, Iris Frill Mini Dress, Iris Open Back Midi Dress

Pairs well with: Wild Relatives Gold and Pearl Earrings – you know, in honor of those wild relatives fussing over how you’re wearing pink to your own bridal shower.

Bridal Trend 05: After-Party Glam

The concept of slipping into something a little more comfortable after the wedding ceremony and reception isn’t new. But in 2022, we’ll see brides embracing the age-old practice in a whole new way by majorly amping up the glam and fun in their afterparty looks. As the stars come out and the music turns up, you’ll see the afterwhite bride hit the dance floor in

Our picks: Elodie Sequin Halter DressCassandra Strapless Dress

Pairs well with: Bare feet on the dance floor and a glass of champagne in hand. 🥂
